Sister
Regina Clare Hart, CSJ
In
the 1940s, Sister Regina Clare Hart adopted classroom strategies,
such as cooperative learning, long before leading educators
formalized them. She inspired her students to learn by doing
and placed high priority on discipline, a standard that
characterized her seven decades in the classroom.
After
teaching all grade levels in 12 different schools, Sister
Regina Clare was given the opportunity to share her classroom
philosophies with other teachers as principal of St. Joseph
High School in Natrona from 1968 to 1984. She helped to
train other teachers and develop curriculum for other schools
before returning to St. Joseph as a mentor, librarian, and,
most recently, Dean of Students.
Sister
Regina Clare retired two years ago as Dean of Students after
a 26-year association with St. Joseph, but she continues
to teach social studies in Detroit, Michigan, where she
lives with family members.
"Education
has been a part of my life for so long. I just cant
imagine not being around the children," she says. "God
has truly blessed me. Sometimes, I think that I have a heaven
here on earth."
