Sister
Christy Hill, CSJ
Sister
Christy Hill, who has served 22 years in education ministry,
began a new position in July as principal of Mount Gallitzin
Academy in Baden. She previously served as a principal at
Holy Name in Ebensburg and St. Sebastian in Ross Township
and most recently taught at St. Benedict the Moor in Pittsburghs
Hill District.
She
describes herself as one who loves education and the process
of learning; one who believes strongly in passing on the
love of God and the Gospel values taught by Jesus; and one
who values the incredible beauty of children.
Sister Christy draws personal and professional inspiration
from the Congregations charism of unity and reconciliation
and the Directional Statement, which espouses non-violence
and the dignity of all persons. At St. Sebastian, she introduced
a peace and justice component to the curriculum. Both as
an educator and woman religious, Sister Christy strives
to live out the characteristics of a Sister of St. Joseph:
"eyes open, ears attentive . . . sleeves rolled up
for ministry . . . continual joy of spirit."
