Sister
Patricia Rossi, CSJ
Looking
back over 50 years in ministry, Sister Patti Rossi quickly
admits that her time as a missionary was the most rewarding.
Whether recalling her experiences in the small village of
Borba in the Amazon Forest or the rural town of Porus in
Jamaica, Sister Patti says the culturally diverse people
brought her enormous blessing.
"The
simple lifestyle . . . being surrounded by
the beauty of nature, participating in the songs, the dances,
fiestas, and celebrations . . . these moments
will never be forgotten," she says.
After
15 years in Brazil and then nine years in Jamaica, Sister
Patti returned in 2002 to become Associate Director of Altoona-Johnstown
Diocese Mission Office. Her lifelong dedication as a missionary
proves invaluable as she encourages the ongoing sister relationship
between the Mandeville, Jamaica and Altoona-Johnstown dioceses.
Formerly
Sister Marie Dominic, Sister Patti served 12 years as a
teacher and then principal in the dioceses of Pittsburgh
and Greensburg. When she isnt tending to missionary
work, she is usually doing something creative around the
house.
