Gallitzin Academy Celebrates Catholic Schools Week
Current families and those interested in learning more about Mount Gallitzin Academy are cordially invited to observe Catholic Schools Week Jan. 27 – Feb. 2, 2008.
The school will open Catholic Schools Week Sunday, Jan. 27, with a Liturgy in the Sisters of St. Joseph Motherhouse Chapel at 10 a.m. followed by refreshments in the school cafeteria.
Public Open Houses at MGA will be conducted Jan. 27 from Noon–1 p.m. and Feb. 8, from 8:30–10:30 a.m. Prospective students and families are invited to tour the facilities and meet faculty members. A showcase of students' work will be displayed throughout the school.
Mount Gallitzin Academy is now accepting enrollment applications for children in preschool through 8th grade for the 2008–09 academic year. The Academy, which was founded in 1869 by the Sisters of St. Joseph, offers an excellent academic curriculum, faith formation, Extended Day program, athletics, low student-teacher ratios and special emphasis on fine arts programs. Mount Gallitzin Academy provides bus service to students in 18 public school districts in Beaver, Butler and Allegheny counties. Financial aid is also available for those who qualify.
The theme chosen for Catholic Schools Week 2008 — "Catholic Schools Light the Way" — highlights the spiritual foundation of Catholic schools and focuses on the leadership and values that graduates provide to our nation. Catholic Schools Week is a joint project between the National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA) and the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB).
