Strategic Plan Goals and Strategies
Shaping Catholic Education
at Mount Gallitzin Academy
for Generations to Come
In May 2005, Mount Gallitzin Academy embarked upon a Strategic Planning Process which would establish goals for the future. Dr. George J. Szymanski, Ph.D., Director of Educational Services, School of Education at Duquesne University, facilitated the process.
The Strategic Planning Committee consisted of 26 members including parents, faculty, members of the broader civic community and members of the Leadership Team of the Sisters of St. Joseph. The process enabled the Committee to identify five major strategies which were deemed most important to the future of the Academy and also to rewrite the Academy’s Mission Statement in relationship to the strategies.
The next phase of the Strategic Planning Process was to organize Action Teams who were responsible for developing the steps necessary to accomplish the five strategies. These plans were presented to the original Strategic Planning Committee for approval and time lines were created. The plans are now in the implementation phase.
The five strategies are as follows:
Involvement: We will fully integrate parents and community into the educational process with our teachers and students.

Academic Excellence: We will continually improve our programs and instruction to provide academic excellence.

Financial Stability: We will aggressively pursue financial stability by reducing our reliance on tuition.

Enrollment Management: We will manage our enrollment to ensure stability, create value for our services, and provide an adequate return on investment for the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph.

Marketing and Communications: We will design and implement a marketing strategy which identifies potential clientele, and provides proper information. We will be proactive and more effective with communication to all of our constituents, both internally and externally.

The Action Plans provide the specific steps for the implementation of these major strategies and will be carried out according to the developed time lines.
