In
response to the increasing prevalence of violence in our
homes, schools, neighborhoods and nations, Peace Camp actively
engages youth in a variety of activities that teach practical
and valuable lifelong lessons in resolving conflicts peacefully.
Peace Camp provides young adults with the experiences of
community living, spiritual reflection and leadership roles.
Peace Camp affirms a deeply rooted commitment by women religious
to model and promote peace, unity, and reconciliation among
those whom they serve.
Peace Camp Vision Statement
As
an outward expression of their passion for peace, congregations
of women religious collaborate to expand the Peace Camp
concept initiated in 2001 by the Sisters of St. Joseph of
Baden, Pa. By sharing common mission and diverse gifts,
this collaboration signifies a far-reaching, dynamic approach
to empowering more young people to positively affect the
peace process in their community circles of living and to
successfully inspire them to become the peace leaders of
tomorrow in the wider circles of the world. This Peace Camp
collaboration serves as a model and inspiration for the
emergence of experiences designed to help youth across the
country understand the critical need for peace and how,
with hopefulness and desire, they can respond openly to
this urgent need.
