Sisters
appoint new Justice Coordinator
Sister
Jeanette Bussen is no stranger to work on behalf of the worth
and dignity of all people and all creation.
Its
this experience and Sister Jeanettes passion for justice,
peace and respect for all people that will serve her and the
Congregation well in her new position as Justice Coordinator
for the Sisters of St. Joseph of Baden.
Among
other things Sister Jeanettes work will include coordinating
the Congregations various peace and justice efforts
that are now initiated either by individual sisters and/or
by offices or departments within the Congregation.
Having
these efforts coordinated through one office will allow greater
sharing of information, more collaborative planning and a
central location and person with whom to coordinate and network.
As Justice
Coordinator Sister Jeanette will also represent the Sisters
of St. Joseph in a variety of ways and with a variety of local
and regional organizations that share our Congregations
values around the dignity of all people, nonviolent solutions
to current crises and addressing the systemic causes of war,
unemployment and underemployment, violence and other cultural
realities that affect the social fabric of our society.
Prior
to assuming the responsibilities of Justice Coordinator, Sister
Jeannette ministered for years in Missouri and Pennsylvania
with severely and profoundly physically and mentally challenged
persons and their families.
In addition
Sister Jeanette served on the Leadership Team of the Sisters
of St. Joseph from 19931998.
Since
assuming her new responsibilities Sister Jeanette has been
kept busy by local and regional projects and ecumenical and
Congregational prayer efforts related to the war in Iraq,
as well as providing community members with current information
about how to be more actively involved in influencing both
the state and national legislature regarding social policy,
such as welfare reform, capital punishment and budget development,
particularly in light of diminishing resources for education
and human and social services throughout the country and the
80 billion dollars requested by President Bush to pay for
the war in Iraq.

to visit our website at www.stjoseph-baden.org to pray with
us for nonviolent solutions to conflicts and differences.
