Villa
St. Joseph has been honored as the 2006 Non-Profit Business
of the Year by the Beaver County Chamber of Commerce. The
public announcement was made Friday, March 10, at Seven Oaks
Country Club in Ohioville.
Patrick
Geho, Chamber President, said criteria for the award includes
service to customers, promotion of Beaver County, positive
influences in the local marketplace and participation in Chamber
events.
"The
Chamber is proud to bestow this honor on Villa St Joseph for
its competent and compassionate care to persons in need of
long-term care, and for the overall positive influence they
bring to our county," Geho said. "We are deeply
honored to have them as members and enormously proud of their
commitment to their residents and the community at large."
Villa
St. Joseph, one of seven non-profit organizations to be nominated,
was selected for the award by an executive committee of Chamber
members. The award has been given annually since 2002.
Founded
in 1997 by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Baden, the Villa was
established to provide competent and compassionate care in
a residential setting. The facility focuses on providing a
home-like atmosphere for residents through attractive surroundings,
activities and programs geared toward residents' desires and
choices.
Villa
St. Joseph has a 15-member board of directors, 195 employees
and 80 volunteers and auxiliary members. The staff cares for
as many as 120 residents at a time and provides medical and
therapeutic services for up to 300 people over the course
of a year.
"Behind
this award stand many people who support our mission in numerous
ways: the employees who provide loving care to residents and
families, the volunteers and board members who generously
donate their time, and the rich relationships shared by residents,
families and staff," said Villa Administrator Mary Murray.
"It is because of these commitments and community support
of our mission that we received this honor."
This
mission of Villa St. Joseph, rooted in the tradition of the
Sisters of St. Joseph, witnesses to a profound love of God
and love of neighbor without distinction. The Young at Heart
dinner and auction helps Villa St. Joseph provide approximately
$400,000 annually for charitable care of residents with limited
financial means. Young
at Heart 2006 will be held May 13 at Villa St. Joseph
and the Sisters of St. Joseph Motherhouse in Baden.
Representing

The
2006 Profit Business of the Year went to Professional Graphic
Communications of Economy, which prints The View from
the Villa newsletter, and has been a long-standing vendor
and supporter of the Sisters of St. Joseph.
