Villa St. Joseph residents pass 'torch' for Senior Games

Stephen Mikush, 86, and Frances Reid, 81, residents of Villa St. Joseph, helped to pass on the Olympic spirit Tuesday, May 3. The two received the torch for the Summer National Senior Games, which open June 3 in Pittsburgh.

The torch, which arrived at Villa St. Joseph from Passavant Homes in Mars, is currently touring faith-based, long-term care facilities in western Pennsylvania in preparation for opening ceremonies.

The torch was passed to Presbyterian Senior Care in Washington, Pa., on May 4. An 18-sport competition for men and women age 50 and over, the Senior Olympics are held every two years in locations around the United States.
