Candidacy

You and the Congregation have spent a good amount of time getting to know one another. You've spent some time at Congregational events and celebrations, have gotten to know some of the Sisters and have met regularly with the Director of Vocation Ministries who has helped you through your discernment process. Both you and the Director of Vocation Ministries believe that you are experiencing God's invitation to religious life and that you show evidence of the Charism (spirit and spirituality) of the Sisters of St. Joseph. Now what? The Candidacy Stage is the first formal stage of formation in the Sisters of St. Joseph of Baden, Pa.The intent of candidacy is to provide a woman and the Congregation with opportunities for on-going discernment of a vocation with the Sisters of St. Joseph. It is also intended to deepen the woman's personal and communal prayer life. During this time, which ordinarily lasts one year, a candidate maintains her full-time employment or studies while living with our Sisters in a local community.
Our part:
	Provide a welcoming local community living arrangement for the Candidacy year
	Provide on-going discernment opportunities, such as retreats, regular meetings with the Director of Vocation Ministries, periodic gatherings with other women in formation
Your part:
	Participate in your local community, Congregational activities, events and processes
	Meet regularly with the Director of Candidate Ministries
	Participate in ministry experience, as well as theological reflection on your experience
	Maintain your financial independence from the Congregation
	Continue your on-going spiritual direction
