From
Downtown Pittsburgh:
Take
Route 65 North (Ohio River Boulevard). Pass through Bellevue,
Emsworth, Sewickley, Leetsdale and Ambridge. After Ambridge,
the road becomes a four-lane open road with a speed limit
of 55 mph. At the end of that road, there is a traffic light
with a large Sheetz service station and convenience store
on the right.
At the next light, there is a Pizza Hut and McDonald’s,
also on the right. After this light, move into the right
lane. The next light has a small ice cream store, Punk’s,
on the right. Shortly after this light (about ten car lengths),
ease right onto State Street — a side road that runs parallel
to Route 65 — just past Anderson’s Candy Store.
The Motherhouse (St. Joseph Convent) is on the right. There
are three buildings: Mount Gallitzin Academy, the Convent
building, and Villa St. Joseph. Take the first driveway
to the right and park in the Visitors’ Parking Lot.
Walk along the roadway in front of Mount Gallitzin Academy.
Pass the entrance to the Academy (first set of steps) and
go to the main (ground-level) entrance of the Convent.

From Pittsburgh Route 279:
Take any crosstown connection to 279 North. Exit at Camp
Horne Road Exit 15. Stay in left lane off of ramp and turn
left at light. Proceed straight through the next two lights.
This is Camp Horne Road. Stay on this road for a few miles.
At the stoplight (which is Route 65 North), turn right.
Stay
on this road until you get to Baden. Pass the I-79 interchanges,
Sewickley, Quaker Valley Shopping Center, Ambridge. Approaching
a McDonald’s and Pizza Hut on the right is a stoplight.
You are in Baden and the Motherhouse is quickly approaching.
Stay in the right hand lane after this light. The next light
is at Punk’s (ice cream place) on your right. Shortly after
this light (about ten cars lengths), ease right onto State
Street — a side road that runs parallel to Route 65 — just
past Anderson’s Candy Store. There are two entrances — the
first entrance is for school buses, and the second entrance
is for visitors. Take the second entrance and park in the
lot immediately to your right. There are three buildings:
Mount Gallitzin Academy, the Convent building, and Villa
St. Joseph.
Walk along the roadway in front of Mount Gallitzin Academy.
Pass the entrance to the Academy (first set of steps) and
go to the main (ground-level) entrance of the Convent.

From Interstate
79, Traveling South:
Take
Interstate 79 South to Exit 25 (Exit will be marked "Cranberry.")
Follow this to Route 19. Cross Route 19, picking up Freedom
Road straight ahead on the other side of 19. As you come
down Freedom Road, you will meet a traffic light at each
of the following points: Sheetz; Ice Cube Place; Hampton
Inn; Sweet Licks; and PNC Bank. (These are all on the right
hand side of the road.) There are also lights at Powell
Road and Lovi Road.
Travel on Freedom Road for approximately 4.5 miles. After
the traffic lights, there is a Stop Sign at the 989 junction
sign.
At the Route 989 sign, make a left turn, proceeding to the
stop sign at the top of the hill. DO NOT FOLLOW THE BADEN
SIGN AT THE TOP OF THE HILL. Be sure to make a right turn
onto Conway-Wallrose Road, passing the Candlelight Lounge
on the right. Continue on this road (about 2.6 miles of
winding road) to the traffic light at the bottom of the
hill. This will be Route 65 / Ohio River Boulevard. There
is an Exxon station on the right.
Make a left turn onto Route 65. Stay on Route 65 in the
left lane. At the first traffic light on 65 (Wendy’s), make
a left turn from the turning lane and stay in the right
lane. At the next traffic light, make a right onto State
Street, which runs parallel to Route 65. After the stop
sign at Ann Street, continue on State Street, past a few
houses and an empty field on the left side of the road.
Continue past the entrance for Villa St. Joseph and the
first entrance to St. Joseph Convent. Proceed to the far
(third) entrance and make a left, and then an immediate
right into the Visitors’ Parking Lot.
Walk
along the roadway in front of Mount Gallitzin Academy. Pass
the entrance to the Academy (first set of steps) and go
to the main (ground-level) entrance of the Convent.

the Pennsylvania Turnpike:
Take the I-79 exit (Exit 28) toward Pittsburgh / Erie. Merge onto Route 19 N / Perry Highway toward Cranberry. Get in left lane. At the major intersection of Freedom Road/Route 228, turn left onto Freedom Road.
Travel on Freedom Road for approximately 4.5 miles. Turn left at stop sign at the intersection of Route 989. At stop sign at the top of the hill, turn right onto Conway-Wallrose Road. DO NOT FOLLOW THE BADEN SIGN AT THE TOP OF THE HILL. Be sure to make a right turn onto CONWAY-WALLROSE ROAD, passing the Candlelight Lounge on the right. Continue on this road (about 2.6 miles) to the traffic light at the bottom of the hill. This will be the intersection of Route 65 / Ohio River Blvd. There is an EXXON station on the right.
Turn left onto Route 65. Stay on 65 in the left lane. At the first traffic light on Route 65 (Wendy’s), make a left turn. At the next traffic light (you will be facing Northern Lights Shopping Center), make a right turn onto State Street. Continue on State Street through one stop sign, past a few houses and the future site of a housing complex (now an empty field) on the left side of the road.
Turn left into the Villa St. Joseph entrance, and then make an immediate right into the visitors’ parking lot. Walk past the Villa St. Joseph entrance and along the walk to the main entrance of the Convent. (There will be a few cars parked opposite the main entrance.)
