As a nation, we have experienced a rancorous and divisive political campaign season, marked by rhetoric of fear, anger and hate which has left our nation fragmented and conflicted. We need to begin the process of healing and move forward in the belief that reconciliation and rebuilding are possible. Without question, God can create newness out of brokenness and chaos!
As Sisters of St. Joseph, we strive to foster a unity that is not uniformity and a diversity that is not division. Since our founding in 1650, we have been called to respond to the most pressing needs of the times. What is crucial at this time in our nation’s history is to unite the divided, to mend the shattered and, in the words of Pope Francis, “to show mercy by building bridges.”
At this pivotal moment in our country’s history, all Sisters of St. Joseph and our Associates are reaffirming our commitment to our mission of living and working so that all may be one.
