Extended
Day Program Opens
The Extended Day program at Mount Gallitzin Academy offers
an informal, relaxing and enriching time for students after
their busy school day. Activities are age-appropriate. Students
are supervised by two adults.
The program's
short-term goals include providing a familiar, safe and comfortable
environment for students when their parents cannot be with
them due to work or other obligations. Long-term goals include
the presentation of educational, recreational and social programs
such as:
·
Intergenerational program at Villa St. Joseph
· Mass each week in the chapel
· Stations of the Cross
· Meet and Greet
· Show and Tell
· Wetlands Presentation
· Drum Circle
· American Heart Association's First Aid Program.
Students
are encouraged to socialize with classmates while making use
of indoor and outdoor facilities. In the Media Center, older
students have access to books, computers, and the Internet
on a supervisory basis. The last hour of each extended day
is designed for quiet time for doing homework or reading.
To keep parents informed about activities and upcoming events,
the staff communicates with them through a monthly calendar.
The program
is open to all Academy students. For more specific information,
or if you or a family member has a special skill, talent or
hobby to share with the students during the Extended Day program,
please contact Cheryl at 724-869-2505
