| St.
Joseph Spirituality Center is a ministry of the Sisters
of St. Joseph of Baden, Pennsylvania. In LePuy, France,
in 1650, a Jesuit priest, Jean-Pierre Medaille, called
together six faith-filled, compassionate and spirited
women. He charged them to be "the congregation
of the great love of God." These women consecrated
themselves to the service of God and neighbor under
the patronage of St. Joseph. They made lace for their
own support, so they could devote themselves in ministry
with "the dear neighbor." Thus began the Congregation
of the Sisters of St. Joseph. |

In
1869, three Sisters journeyed to Ebensburg, Pennsylvania,
to further extend this mission of love of God and love of
the "dear neighbor" through the establishment
of Mt. Gallitzin Seminary for boys. In 1901 this community
renamed the seminary Mount Gallitzin Academy and relocated
it to Baden, Pennsylvania, to live the spirit of St. Joseph
along the banks of the Ohio River.
Today,
the Sisters of St. Joseph carry on the work and the spirit
of those early founders. Today, the Sisters welcome women
and men to join them in striving to become people of "the
great love of God."
