WEEK FOUR: IN HONOR OF ST. JOSEPH - PRAYERS FOR OUR BENEFACTORS

Opening Prayer: St. Joseph, our Patron and our Friend, send blessings of peace, joy and well being to all of us as we gather here in your honor. In a special way, bless all those women and men who support us in our ministry as we dedicate ourselves to the mission of Jesus, who lives with the Father and the Spirit now and forever. Amen

Antiphon 1: Jacob became the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary. She gave birth to Jesus who is called Christ. (Matthew 1:16)

Psalm 89:1-4

I will sing the story of your love, Yahweh, forever;
I will proclaim your faithfulness to all generations.

Your true love is firm as the ancient earth,
Your faithfulness fixed as the heavens.

I have made a covenant with the one I have chosen,
I have sworn to my servant David:

I will establish your posterity forever,
I will make your throne endure for all generations.

Antiphon 2: When Joseph awoke, he did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took his wife into his home. (Matthew 1:24)

Psalm 89: 15-16, 24, 28

Happy the people who have learned to acclaim you,
Who walk in the light of your presence!

In your name they shall rejoice all day long;
Your righteousness shall lift them up.

My faithfulness and true love shall be with you,
And through my name you shall hold your head high.

I will maintain my love for you forever
And be faithful in my covenant with you.

Intercessions: Leader Response

L: All loving parenthood has its origin in God. Let us turn to God and say,
R: Loving God, hear our prayer.

L: Loving God, you revealed to St. Joseph your eternal plan of salvation in Christ,
R: Deepen our understanding of your Son, true God and true man.

L: Generous God, you feed the birds of the air and clothe the fields with the
fruit of the earth,
R: Give all your children their daily bread, to sustain soul and body.

L: Maker of the universe, you have entrusted your creation to our safekeeping,
R: May the unemployed find work, and may workers receive a just reward for their labors.

L: God of all righteousness, you want us all to be like you,
R: May St. Joseph inspire us to walk always in your way of holiness.

Let us pray: O God, you gave St. Joseph the joy of joining Mary in caring for the child Jesus. Grant us the grace to nurture the life of Christ in our lives. Keep our hearts open to the needs of others. As St. Joseph provided for Jesus and Mary, we ask you through his intercession to look upon the needs of those who ask our prayers and answer their requests. We ask this in Jesus' name.
Amen.
