About the Speaker
An internationally recognized advocate of active nonviolence and prime organizer of the Catholic Nonviolence Initiative, Marie works on inter-religious and inter-cultural dialogue. From 1989 to 2012, Marie served as director of the Maryknoll Office for Global Concerns.
In 2016, she was named “Person of the Year” by the National Catholic Reporter and was recognized as a Public Peace Prize laureate for her work in global peace and reconciliation. Marie is a lay woman, mother of six and member of Assisi Community in Washington, D.C.
She has a Master’s degree in Moral Theology from Washington Theological Union as well as honorary doctorates from Trinity Washington University and Alvernia University. Marie is a highly respected and prominent keynote speaker who is much in demand at conferences, universities and retreats.
