Spend one Saturday a month to help us protect and care for creation!
We are so grateful and excited to invite both individuals and groups to join us for our monthly Volunteer Work Days to help tend the land entrusted to our care. Our volunteers not only help us to nurture, preserve, and share the fruits of our beautiful, 80-acre grounds, but also directly support our commitment to the Laudato Si Action Platform and its call to care for our common home.
By spending part of your day with us, you’re also helping to reduce food insecurity, locally, by contributing to the Sisters’ Ecology ministry, which includes our community gardens, chickens, and apiary.
Come for all or part of the time! Work Days begin at 9:30 a.m. and conclude at 2:30 p.m., weather-permitting, on the following dates in the 2024 season:
April 13
May 11
June 15
July 13
August 10
September 14
October 12
November 9
Each work day includes lunch in our dining room and a chance to meet and interact with Sisters who reside at our Motherhouse.
Seasonal tasks can include: weeding, mulching, painting, pruning, and helping to maintain areas like the community gardens and labyrinth. We appreciate your contribution whether it’s for an hour or for the entire day!
Our only request is that you please bring your own water bottle (which can be refilled onsite). We discourage the use of store-bought bottled water because of our commitment to reduce plastic consumption.
Please RSVP by emailing Toni Dunlap at tdunlap@stjoseph-baden.org (one week in advance, if possible) and let us know if you will be staying for lunch.
Weather-related cancellations will be sent via email.
Please note, the Oct. 10 session will not be held. Weekly gatherings will resume the following week on October 17.
Historical presentation by Archivist Kathleen Washy to celebrate chapel centennial
For 100 years, St. Joseph Chapel has served as the heart of the Sisters of St. Joseph home.
It’s where Sisters enter the Congregation, gather for joyous and solemn occasions, and honor the lives of those who have returned home to God.
The chapel is also a special and sacred place for many others who have shared in our lives and ministries.
In celebration of this centennial year, please join us for a presentation by our archivist, Kathleen Washy, on the rich history and architecture of our chapel.
WHEN: Sunday, May 19 at 2 p.m.
WHERE: Sisters of St. Joseph Motherhouse Chapel, 1020 W. State Street, Baden, PA 15005
Event is free. Attendance is limited. Please register below or by calling Lisa Conti at: 724.869.6591.
