We’re seeking a PT Nursing Assistant 24 hours/week and a PRN Nursing Assistant able to work daylight and evening shifts.
We’re a private, non-profit organization that emphasizes caring for one another and seeing the best in ourselves and others. After devoting their lives to the service of the dear neighbor, it is now the Sisters who need the compassionate help of care givers.
*Low resident to staff ratio, with an average of 10 residents per aide*
*Generous shift differential for 2nd and 3rd shifts*
Some essential duties include:
- Assist with household tasks, e.g., making bed, changing linens, laundry
- Encourage independence for each Sister within her individual capacity
- Transport Sisters to various areas of the Motherhouse and offer assistance as needed
- Orient Sisters to time, person and place as needed and update orientation boards in each living area daily
- Assist nurse(s) in providing treatments as ordered, e.g., hot packs
- Work every shift conscious of a team approach and the continuity of care for the Sisters
Qualifications Required
- High school diploma or equivalent; at least 18 years of age
- 6-12 months experience in a personal care or nursing home working with elders
- Self-motivated and compassionate caregiver
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Must be reliable and dependable
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, perform one person transfer under routine and emergency situations, re-position a Sister alone, and be able to sit, stand, bend, stoop, kneel, pull climb, reach, lift and perform repetitive movements of the upper extremities
- Must have flexibility to work different shifts
Qualifications Preferred:
- Trained in first aid/CPR procedures
- Current certification as CNA
Candidates must pass criminal clearances and drug screen.

We are seeking a full-time Food Security & Farm Coordinator to join our team at the Sisters of St. Joseph.
The Food Security & Farm Coordinator elevates the human condition locally and regionally through activities, programs, and partnerships focused on food security, edible gardening, and care for creation.
Essential Duties:
- Champion food security with local and regional partners and communities and internally for Sisters and staff:
- Perform all aspects of care for on-site community gardens, internal production garden, hoophouse, seedling growing room, orchard, berry patches, and chickens; coordinate community gardeners; and facilitate produce donations to our local partners.
- Connect with existing and potential partners about community needs, collaboration, and simply to extend the hospitality and care of the Sisters:
- Develop and grow partner relationships by assessing partner needs, connect with partners about programming that leverages our on-site natural resources which especially pertains to workforce development and education, and seek new diverse partnerships.
- Serve the dear neighbor, both human and not, through care for creation:
- Maintain sustainable and organic agricultural practices, manage on-site composting to best industry standards, and maintain healthy, clean, safe, and welcoming outdoor spaces.
- Contribute to the continued learning, growth, and pursuit of mission for Sisters, lay staff, and volunteers:
- Develop and deliver external and internal educational programs, organize and supervise volunteers, and engage in personal goal setting and development opportunities.
- Collaborate with colleagues and Sisters on any other duties or projects as assigned that may arise in the course of our pursuit to support the Sisters’ mission to serve God and the dear neighbor without distinction.
Qualifications:
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent and 3 to 5 years of experience in outdoor maintenance, gardening, or horticulture.
- Experience in outreach or community relations, especially related to food security.
- Experience with snow removal and general grounds maintenance; as well as basic skills for operating and maintaining small lawn equipment; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Driver’s license required.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, hear, stand, walk, twist, bend at waist, balance, kneel, grasp, reach and pull with hands and arms. Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the job, including those that require inside and outside work in varying weather conditions (hot, cold, wet, humid), work from a ladder or scaffolding at various heights, ability to regularly push, pull, move and/or lift 50 lbs.
Preferred:
- Small engine repair, diesel engine knowledge; safety training certification for tractor operation; sustainability.
Schedule: Monday to Friday, daylight, occasional weekend
