This class is the second in a ten-part series that has the goal of offering a strong foundation in Scripture. It may be taken independently or it may be taken as a part of the whole series to give a fuller understanding of the Scriptures.
Beginning with Chapter 12 of Genesis, Sister Honora McCawley presents this class as an overview of the Old Testament that is the historical and religious base of our faith in light of the Christ-event.
We will see the emphasis on God’s mercy as the history of the Chosen People unfolds. The figures of the Patriarchs and Moses will be explored. This will be followed by a brief historical review from the kingdom of David to the accabean revolt. A concise commentary on Wisdom Literature and the Psalms is included.
This class offers four elective credits from the Department for Religious Education, Diocese of Pittsburgh.
