One Church, One Family Catholic Public Witness for Immigrants

November 14 @ 8:00 am - 9:30 am

Casa San José, Pax Christi, and the Sisters of St. Joseph will lead a prayerful public witness outside the ICE Office on Friday, November 14, 2025, from 8:00-9:30 a.m. The event is registered with the One Church, One Family campaign, a national movement of U.S. Catholics calling people of faith to publicly demonstrate solidarity with migrant families, asylum seekers, and refugees. The prayerful public witness, which will include speakers from Christian Life Community, is one of more than 100 events that have been planned across the country as part of the effort.

“We are living in a time when our faith demands action on behalf of immigrants across our nation who are suffering fear and family separation with the actions of our government in the name of immigration enforcement,” said Sister Janice Vanderneck, Director of Civic Engagement of Casa San José.

In the Catholic tradition, November 13 is the Feast Day of Mother Frances Xavier Cabrini, the patron saint of immigrants and the first American saint to be canonized. The 50+ events across the country around this feast day will culminate the campaign, which began with over 50 events that took place on or around October 22, 2025. The body of U.S. bishops, individual bishops, and Catholic organizations have been speaking out against the implementation of inhumane policies that go against the Catholic Church’s teaching on migration, which is informed by the Bible and Catholic moral teaching.

“As Catholics and people of deep faith, we reject the culture of fear and silence that dehumanizes, and we choose instead to stand with migrants,” shared Jon Gromek of the Ignatian Solidarity Network, one of the principal organizers of the campaign. “Together, our voices will send a powerful message to defend the dignity of our neighbors, family members, fellow parishioners, classmates, coworkers, and friends.”

Please join us on the sidewalk outside 3000 Sidney Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15203. The closest public parking is just off the Hot Metal Bridge, about a three-block walk.
