Serving God and the Dear Neighbor without Distinction
J.C. Enders on our Ecology Team began constructing a dead hedge on our grounds this summer. The dead hedge – a fence or wall woven from fallen branches – serves as an artistic installation and designated place for an outdoor gathering space, and hosts an ecologically diverse community of invertebrates, birds, and small animals. As the branches decompose, they enrich the soil and can be replaced by other branches from campus that have subsequently fallen, of which we have many!
